Starting off the new year by reflecting on my last year's challenge. As with most of my resolutions, I started off strong and ran out of steam when it seemed to get hard. I found this idea from a fellow book lover to help me direct my reading chaos.
When I'm stuck on what to read next I referenced this list to see which letters I had left to have some sort of guidance system. You can make whatever rules you'd like but my rules were to read a book that has a title that begins with each letter in the alphabet. My exceptions were "X" and "Z" where I decided to just read a book that had those two letters anywhere in the title and that would count. I did delete a lot of "A"'s and "The"'s from the book titles just because more than half of my books would have started with it like "The" Nightingale.
As the year started dwindling down, I procrastinated and started counting any books that had the letter in it. I ended up failing on J, K, X, Y, and Z and included any read that included those letters, so my list would look complete.
This helped me break out of my typical reading genres in order to look for books with weird titles to complete my challenge. I'm thinking of trying an alphabet list by authors names next to maybe discover a new author. This year though I've joined so many reading challenges already. If you are part of the bookstagram community you have most probably heard of one of these two hashtags, but I'm participating in #HarreadPotter and #TheUnreadShelfProject2018. One is for me to give the 162 books on my bookshelf some love, to stop buying new books, and to focus on what I have. The second is because I have never read Harry Potter before so a few girls have joined together who also have never read the series and we are doing a massive buddy read.
Have you done a challenge like this before? What challenge are you participating in this year? Have you read any of these books? The underlined titles are links to my reviews if you want to check any out or share some love. Do you have any recommendations for the letters I failed at?
